Buffalo receives verbal from high ceiling and high work ethic Mealey

'16 Mentor LHP Rob Mealey has officially committed to Buffalo to continue his academic and athletic careers. Rob also took visits to Xavier and Cincinnati this fall.

Mealey is an extremely high ceilinged 6'6 left handed pitcher. Rob is a great athlete with a lot of room to fill out his 200 pound frame. Rob has been up to 84 this fall, and has been consistently sitting in the low 80s. He has a good 3 pitch mix, supporting his fastball with a sharp breaking ball and plus change up with good arm speed and movement. Rob has been working extremely hard in our velocity program and in the weight room and looks to sit in the mid 80s and beyond this coming spring and summer.

"Rob is one of the most fun guys to work with in the program. Who doesn't like an athletic 6'6 lefty with upside who does whatever you tell them to do?" said Coach Simon. "Rob has made huge gains in velocity in the last 3-4 months. As a sophomore, Rob was up to 79 mph as a 15 year old, and looked like a D1 pitcher. After a year of traditional pitching coaching that didn't work for him, Rob and his family took it upon themselves to do research and undergo this new age throwing type programs, and they have been awesome for Rob. Between mobility work, the weight room, and offseason throwing, Rob can be as good as anyone, and we fully expect him to sit mid 80s come this spring. Buffalo got a good one!"

Congrats to Rob and the entire Mealey family on this amazing accomplishment. Rob has worked as hard as anyone else out there!
